Families Learn About Amani

Mostly Sept – Jan

Most families discover Amani through open houses, school events, and word of mouth, typically between September and January. Families are welcome to learn about the school and reach out at any point in the year.

Submit an Application

Anytime — all year

Amani accepts new applications 12 months a year, with no deadline. Families can apply whenever it's convenient for them, though applying before April 1 places a student in that year's lottery.

Lottery Day

April 1

If a grade receives more applications than it has seats, those seats are filled by a random lottery on April 1. If a grade is not oversubscribed, every applicant to that grade is simply accepted.

Offers & Waitlist

After April 1

Students selected in the lottery are offered a seat. Students not selected are placed on a waitlist and offered seats as they become available throughout the year.

Registration

Once offered a seat

Families accepted through the lottery or the waitlist complete registration, providing required documentation and information about their student to confirm their place.

Attend Amani

First day of school

Once registration is complete, students begin attending Amani Public Charter School.

Every Year, the Cycle Repeats

Registration isn't a one-time step — each year, every enrolled family goes through registration again to re-enroll their student for the coming school year, at the same time new families are moving through the lottery and registering for the first time.
